Western Engagement Session Inspiration

Western style engagement photos are some of my FAVORITE! The vibes, the location, and the outfits all come together to create some stunning photos. Whether you’re taking photos at a rustic barn, the open wildflower fields, or a cozy campfire, a Western style engagement session offers romantic and authentic photos that capture your love! Keep scrolling to see tons of western engagement session inspiration!

Where to Have your Western Engagement Session

Rustic Barn 

Barns are iconic in western settings and can serve as a great backdrop for your western engagement photos. You can take photos in front of the barn and the inside for a variety of shots! The wood or metal of the barn adds charm to their entire session.

Open Fields and Wildflowers

Imagine running through an open field with your partner! Isn’t that super romantic? Wildflowers, tall grasses, meadows provide a beautiful and natural setting for engagement photos! It’s the perfect place to be playful and bring out the authenticity of your relationship! 

Cozy Campfires

If you’re wanting an intimate and cozy vibe a campfire setting should be considered. The fire creates such a romantic atmosphere! To incorporate the cozy vibes, bring blankets and snuggle up while you roast some marshmallows and capture the cute and tender moments under the stars.

What to Wear to Your Western Engagement Session 

A long, flowy dress can create beautiful movement in photos and adds a romantic touch. Consider soft, earthy colors or floral patterns for your dress! A cute denim skirt would also fit PERFECTLY with the Western vibes. And if you’re not a skirt or dress person, some nice jeans with some boots is ideal!

For the guys, a plaid or checkered shirt with some bootcut jeans would fit the vibe perfectly! Consider layering with a vest or a jacket as well. Don’t forget the boots! They are a MUST for a Western engagement session! Traditional leather boots or boots with unique design and colors will compliment your dress or skirt!

Lastly, you should accessorize! Hats, belts and jewelry are a staple for a Western outfit! Think rustic metal belts and turquoise jewelry! Make sure to coordinate your outfits to complement each other without clashing. For example, if one of you wears a plaid shirt, the other can wear a solid color that picks up one of the plaid tones.

What to Incorporate into your Western Engagement Session 

Here are some ideas of what you can incorporate into your Western engagement photos! A classic pickup truck as a backdrop or even as a seat for your photos! Adding a blanket into the mix makes for some cozy and intimate photos. For some fun, consider adding animals! For example, if you have access to horses, this would be such a great touch to your photos, and if you can ride them, even better!
